Seeing as this is my next to last firearm Blog, I am going to do this article on one of my favorite firearms! The Glock 19!

Chambered in 9 mm Parabellum, the Glock 19 is one of the best performing firearms on the market to date. It is hands down the most dependable and never failing firearms I own.

The AK 47 of the pistol world, the Glock 19, 9 mm is one of the few handguns on the market that will never fail you or let you down. I have owned at least 4 of these pistols, and not once have I ever had a problem with the gun. The one or two times I have ever had a malfunction, it was always an ammunition problem; NOT an issue with the pistol itself.

The Glock 19 is effectively a reduced-size Glock 17, called the “Compact” by the manufacturer. It was first produced in 1988, primarily for military and law enforcement.

The Glock 19’s barrel and pistol grip are shorter by about 12 mm (0.5 in) than the Glock 17, and it uses a magazine with a standard capacity of 15 rounds. The pistol is compatible with factory magazines from the Glock 17 and Glock 18, giving the Glock 19 available capacities of: 17 rounds (standard magazine with +2 extension), 10, 17, and 19 (standard Glock 17 magazine with +2), and the 31 (standard Glock 18 magazine with +2 removed) and 33 rounds of the Glock 18.

To preserve the operational reliability of the short recoil system, the mass of the slide remains the same as in the Glock 17 from which it is derived. With the exception of the slide, frame, barrel, locking block, recoil spring, guide rod, and slide lock spring, all of the other components are interchangeable between the models 17 and 19.

But don’t take my word for it, here is what Glock themselves have to say about it:

The GLOCK 19 is ideal for a more versatile role because of its reduced dimensions when compared to the standard sized option. Chambered in 9×19, the G19 has found worldwide acclaim with both private and public security agencies. In addition to being used as a conventional service pistol, it is ideal for concealed carry or as a backup weapon.
